Dr. Brown's Good Health Club
Childhood Obesity is the single, most threatening condition-both short and long term-in children today. This leads to serious, chronic medical conditions in adulthood.
We are tackling the problem head on in our Practice. It is important to realize obesity may start in infancy.
Proper diet is strongly encouraged to the parent. Education regarding proper nutrition begins in infancy.
In Dr. Brown's GOOD HEALTH CLUB, we educate and instruct parents on keeping a food diary and exercise journal. This is returned to the Providers in the first two weeks and then once a month for a weight check and progress report.
We have a Dietician from Ochsner Foundation Hospital that meets with our Providers every three months to discuss our progress with our "GOOD HEALTH CLUB."
It has been shown in multiple studies that a Medical Provider's input is more receptive than that of a parent to a child. In just a few months of initiating this program, we have already seen exciting results!!
BAM-BAM bracelets are given for participation and progress in the program.

ADD-ADHD CARE:
We closely follow our patients with diagnosed ADD-ADHD. Our initial workup is the well known NICHQ VANDERBILT ADHD ASSESSMENT SCALE. A contract is then presented to the parent stating the following:
- You are required to bring your child in every 30 days to monitor weight and blood pressure before receiving the ADHD medication refill.
- You will bring your child in every three months to be reevaluated. Mid year follow-up evaluations with teacher and parent required.
- At any time, a Provider may initiate a follow up visit when deemed necessary especially if you wish to increase or change medication.
- You are responsible for child's prescription. It will not be refilled before the 30 days.
We judiciously use medications, as needed, with your children and follow their progress closely in DR. BROWN'S YOU CAN SHINE CLUB
Dr. Brown's club rewards the children with BAM-BAM silicone bracelets when their grades improve.
